Turn your excuses into ACTION! 👊
Your reasons not to exercise right now can feel really legitimate, life is busy! We want to help you to understand that these seemingly valid reasons not to exercise, actually don't stack up and they are in fact, excuses that you can overcome. An example: you think you don't have time, you do a DediKate Mini (10 min workout), and then you end up doing more, and you realise that time wasn't actually your barrier!
"I don't have time" ⌛
This is one of the most common reasons people don't exercise, but the thing is, the busiest and most successful people in the world exercise, so we can too! It can feel like you don't have time, the trick is that you have to make time.
Just like you would schedule in a meeting or an appointment, you need to do the same with exercise. Dedicating a certain amount of time in your diary to exercise each week also keeps you accountable.
By starting a DediKate fitness challenge, you're able to know how many times a week you will be working out and how much time is needed for each workout. Plus, you don't have to factor in a commute to the gym when working out from home!
If you're really short on time, 10 minute aerobic sessions are the perfect place to start. On DediKate, we have DediKate Mini workouts! These are 5-10 minute mini workouts for busy days or to add onto the end of other workouts or exercise sessions. 💪
"I have no motivation to workout" 😮💨
It's totally normal to not feel like working out. Motivation can't always be relied upon, it comes and goes!
Sleep, stress, not getting the results you were after often have an impact on your motivation levels. It is important to keep these factors in mind and do what is best for your body in the moment.
Often we don't feel like exercising because we have been too sedentary. However, we actually need the energy and enorphins from exercise! Have you ever noticed how you have MORE energy after a workout than before? This is your endorphins being released! Exercise increases our endorphin levels, heart health, sleep and focus!
HIIT workouts in particular are great for releasing endorphins, even when you might not feel like it. If an intense workout is too much for you in that moment, start with either a walk or other low impact exercise, this will most likely give you the energy to do more!
Don't expect motivation to just be there, once you stick to a routine of working out, it starts to become a habit and you'll be less reliant on motivation.
"I don't see any change"
If you start to compare yourself to others, it can feel like you're the only one not seeing seeing improvements such as feeling stronger or lifting heavier.
If not seeing or feeling improvements is your excuse for not exercising, try and change your perspective to focus on building health and fitness habits that are going to set you up for long-term success, rather than short-term. For example, you're exercising to increase your energy, your mood, your mental health, as well as reduce the risk of osteporosis, arthritis and improve your bone density for future you!
