Get to know Nic!
Are you ready to join us at DediKate and try Nic's challenging and sweaty workouts!? First, let's get to know DediKate HIIT and Strength Trainer, Nic!
1. Describe your family and where you live.
"My husband, Luke and I live in a renovated church in Jamestown, South Australia! We have two fur babies... kelpies of course, who we absolutely adore... called Digger and Izzy. We are currently pregnant and expecting our first baby boy in late July! My parents, sister and brother in law plus aunts, uncles and cousins are basically our immediate family too! When Luke married me, he married the whole tribe haha!"
2. What is one meal you can't live without?
"I am a big foodie and love eating out, wining and dining but am not overly talented in the kitchen myself unfortunately! My staple meals I cannot live without would have to be peanut butter on toast, scrambled eggs on toast and chilli tuna and brown rice! Oh and coffee of course!"
3. What is on your bucket list?
"After running my first full marathon in 2022 I would love to tick a few more off my list. I have always wanted to do a triathlon too! Ohhh and I would love to get back on the stage performing again, but we will see how that one goes with living so far from the city. Also completing a degree in exercise physiology or even better, physiotherapy has always been on the bucket list!"
4. What is the last TV show you binge watched?
"Yellowstone and Stranger Things with Luke... but I did smash out a few girly series... Working Mums, Ginny and Georgia, Emily in Paris! After massive days at work, I love to switch off and cuddle up to Luke on the couch, much to his disgust haha."
5. What are you most looking forward to?
"Becoming a Mum and meeting our baby boy. In saying this, I am also absolutely terrified!! Also, starting this exciting journey with Kate Ivey Fitness of course!"
6. What is the greatest challenge or struggle you have ever faced?
"Breaking my foot and rupturing major ligaments whilst jumping on a trampoline... total freak accident! It was a tough period which involved months of non-weight bearing and then learning how to walk again. This meant time off work as a PT, group fitness instructor and professional dancer.
Rehabilitation has honestly been the best thing for me to go through in hindsight, especially as a trainer. I now do my best not to take my body and health for granted. I also discovered a passion for working with physio's and assisting clients with rehabilitation after injuries. My first trimester of pregnancy has felt tougher than running my first marathon."
7. Best place you have ever travelled to?
"Basically everywhere in Europe! Plus, I also love the sunshine state of QLD and also Darwin!" I lived in Germany for a few months over Christmas for a dance contract and that was magical!"
8. City or country?
"I will always be a city girl at heart, but have fallen in love with our rural community up here!"
9. What is the best advice you have ever received?
"Those who matter, don't mind. Those who mind, don't matter. I am a massive people pleaser, so I don't tend to stick to this but I am working on it. Also basically every piece of advice in The Resilience Project. I am also a big goal setter and am constantly challenging myself to grow and develop as a person"
10. Favourite DediKate workout?
"Definitely Ignite and Power sessions! Love getting my heart rate up and challenging my breath, but I also love lifting weights!"
11. Favourite cocktail?
"Definitely an aperol spritz! Cannot wait to have one post natal!"
