Top 5 Highlights of my trip to South Australia! βοΈ
We were blown away by South Australia! π¦
Earlier in October I travelled with Anna (DediKate HIIT and Strength trainer) to South Australia to promote DediKate and to speak at two Rural Women's Day Events. What a magical trip we had! We were both blown away by how awesome Adelaide is, the friendly vibe of South Australia and how much there is to see and do! Kate x
1. Adelaide and Surrounds π₯ποΈ
Adelaide and surrounds might just be my favourite Australian city, and I can't wait to visit again. It is so beautiful, easy to access, chilled and filled with so many things to do!
We spent two days there, and we loved every second! We stayed at the Crowne Plaza, which is the perfect location - very close to the shopping of Rundle Mall and even closer to restaurants where we sat outside along the street enjoying the beautiful cusine and high 20's October weather.
Our first stop on Day 1 was the popular 2KW restaurant for lunch which was absoulutely devine! The cocktails and the view of the city were so good that we returned the following day! We then visited the historic Penfolds winery, a short 10-15 minutes drive from the city. The tour was so interesting!
On Day 2 we headed to the Adelaide Hills and enjoyed some cheese tasting at Gruthal Brewery before learning how to open champagne bottles with a sword at Sidewood! My neighbours had told me all about the German town of Hahndorf, so I was excited when we strolled its streets - it was a Tuesday, but there were so many people which created an awesome vibe. I bought some delicious fudge and a cushion cover for my Mum. We then headed to one of the many beautiful places to eat in the Adeladie Hills before returning back to the city for some shopping at David Jones and another street side dinner.
Before we ventured out into rural South Australia on Day 3 of our week away, we went to the Adelaide Central Markets. Rows and rows of fresh fruit, veges and meats, gorgeous coffee stops and the famous Haigs chocolate shop! A definite highlight!
#2 Lake Bumbunga π·
On our way out to the Mid North rural towns of Burra and Jamestown, we stopped at Lake Bumbunga to film a workout. Wow, it was breathtaking and only 1.5 hours from Adelaide!
Lake Bumbunga is a salt lake and is known to change colour from pink to white to blue depending on the salinity of the water throughout the year. It was pink while we were there and it was absoltely gorgeous!!!!
This is a must visit, and check out the amazing Lake Bumbunga package deal below - offer ends 30th November 2023!
#3 Live Online Workout from a Woolshed π
This was so much fun! A super cool collab with Emily Riggs from Merino Wool fashion brand, Iris and Wool. Iris and Wool are the sponsors of the DediKate Summer Challenge and it timed perfectly to go to Emily's farm and film a live Instagram workout from her woolshed.
We met Nic (DediKate HIIT and Strength trainer) for the first time in person as she lives only 40 minutes away, and it was Emily, Anna, Nic and I all together for the workout! It was super cool to connect online with our members across New Zealand and Australia during our trip, and we had many new members join us as well. To tie the collab together, we each wore an Iris and Wool cami, which are perfect for working out in as they are breatheable, nature doing it's thing!
This was also a stunning location to get some workout footage for our social media. A definite highlight!
#4 The People π
What really made our trip around South Australia was the people. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, from the minute we hopped off the plane!
While in Jamestown (Nic's home town) we had a get together with some local rural women. One DediKate member even drove 1.5 hours to see us. It was fabulous.
At our events, many people came up and introduced themselves, it was such a wholesome vibe. South Australia, your rural and regional women are incredible!
#5 Rural Women's Day Events πΈ
To top off a fabulous week, we attended and took part in two Rural Women's Day Events located in Orrorro and then Kimba.
At Orrorro I spoke on a panel about DediKate, my why, body image and being vulnerable, and Anna and Nic modelled for the fashion show. We then hit the road for the 2.5 hours trip to Kimba on the Eyre Peninsula. Here we visited the incredile solo art (check it out on the KIF Instagram) and I was a guest speaker, chatting about the Kate Ivey Fitness Business Story.
Both events were fabulous, such imporant events for our rural and regional women and an absolute honour to be a part of them!
I hope you have enjoyed this summary of our trip, and my favourite highlights! South Australia is such an amazing part of the world, I highly recommend you visit! Kate xx
