"Jane and I are mates. Family through marriage, but mates first and mates always. This is our second time doing DediKate with a Mate and the second time we’ve loved it! First time we smashed our goals and were soooo competitive. This time however, was a little different.
The first two weeks were fab, off to a roaring start with both of us adding Minis onto everything we could - competitive much? Amy found out that she LOVES Ignite and a good Speed Session, whereas Jane really enjoyed a slow burn Sculpt and Ignite as BOXlift was too hard with one arm! Jane also now loves a Mini add on. Who would have thought!
After the third week, we both had got all the bonus points and were GOING for it. Aint no stopping these two... Until well, life did (and also didn’t) stop us.
Jane got a shoulder injury and miraculously just kept going - it blew Amy's mind how committed this wonderful woman was, adapting exercises to suit and if not other option, doing it one handed 😂.
After seeing Anna (DediKate trainer) push through with an achilles injury, it really made Jane realise what a privilege it is to be able to exercise (plus she still wanted to beat Amy haha)!
Then at the end of the third week, Amy got her fourth miracle - a positive pregnancy test. (Little backstory, operating on half an ovary and a whole host of fertility woes). The remainder of the challenge was modified around all the spewing and nausea! It still amazes Jane that Amy can be spewing one minute and then next minute there will be a message that says she just finished a Power Session. Incredible really.
We both endured and bloody well got there! For Amy, the best parts is Jane - daily check ins, hilarious voice notes and the reasonably frequent video proof and for Jane is was also the voice messages - so funny. If the message started with 'Jaaaaaannnnne', it meant there was no exercise being done. 😂 Also watching Amy go from a 8pm Sunday workout person to a smash it out early in the week and do an extra workout just for herself person. Loved that.
Thank you for DediKate with a Mate ❤️”
Update from Kate: TW, miscarriage.
Unfortunately when I messaged Amy and Jane to say they had won, they told me that Amy mis-carried at 10 weeks. Their names have been changed as it's still a sensitive time. After recovering, Amy is easing back into exercise and is doing the Summer Challenge. She is optimistic, hopeful and values moving her body each day.
