"The other day I bought these scales for creating content for a January campaign to help others to ditch the scales too. Of course, curiosity got the better of me and I jumped on them.
And they are still telling me what they told me weeks and weeks ago. I have not lost any “weight”.
I’ve been working hard on my health and fitness. I’m running further and faster. I’m lifting heavier. And when I did swimming lengths the other day for the first time this season, boy could I feel improvements in my fitness.
I’m being a lot more mindful with my nutrition - better choices and smaller portions.
I’m also more confident in my myself and my body and my clothes are fitting way better.
So in other words, the scales are useless and pointless. The other markers are what really count. I know this, so it didn’t bother me. But imagine if it was important to me and if I was using scales as my measure of success?
Scales telling you that you haven’t lost weight has caused and continues to cause many women to feel negative about themselves and even though they’re feeling better and they’re seeing other improvements like I am, it can cause them to give up and think that they’re not being successful.
- Scales Measure Weight – Not Success! Scales only measure one thing – your weight. They don’t tell you how many press ups you can do, how strong you are, how far you can run, or how hard you’ve been working. Yet women still let them rule as their measure of progress and achievement. Scales are a one-dimensional representation of success.
- Scales Encourage a Negative Mindset. Watching the scales can make us give up, even when we are doing everything right with our health and fitness! If the scales don’t tell us what we want them to, we can get down and it can ruin our day. You must be patient and focus on doing your best. If you don’t give up, you WILL succeed.
- Ditching the Scales Encourages Positivity! Scales encourage negative body image and do not help us to lead a long-term healthy lifestyle. Mindsets should be positive, and your focus should be on adding things to your life to enrich it. Getting rid of the scales can improve your all-round health and fitness success. Taking them away allows you to really focus on the process. It encourages you to eat healthy foods to make you feel great and to fuel your body, and to exercise for the endless benefits.
That is why here at DediKate we encourage you to ditch the scales. In fact, we hate the scales!
Maybe it’s time you ditched them too? What do you think? Have you ditched them? Or do you weigh yourself regularly? And if so, do they serve you?
