Our TOP Tips to Keep Up Your New Year's Resolutions
2023 is YOUR year and we’re here to help you reach and maintain your health and fitness goals!
So how do we do it?
We all know it is easy to create our resolutions, but it can be hard to maintain them and make your goals a habit!
We are here to help and give you our tips on how we maintain our goals and motivation so that you can smash them all year round!
Use these tips to help make exercise a habit, and secure it as part of your life!
Write down your goals and how you're going to achieve them
We like to incorporate SMART goals that you can use as an approach to exercise: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. The SMART Goals approach will help you learn how to maintain and achieve your fitness and health goals!
Specific: State exactly what you want to accomplish.
Measurable: Use smaller goals to measure your progress.
Attainable: Make your goals achievable.
Realistic: Set a goal that is relevant to where you are right now in your life.
Timely: Give yourself time, but set a deadline.
When setting your goals, consider whether you can carry them out comfortably and confidently throughout the entire year. If the answer is no, then you need to reassess your goals. For example, instead of challenging yourself to workout every single day, aim for 4-5 workouts a week, allowing you time for rest, recovery and a day off for when life throws you a spanner! Creating life-long, sustainable lifestyle changes is something that we are so passionate about at DediKate. It's what's attainable for YOU!
Make an exercise plan and schedule your workouts
Having a plan prepares you for when you are going to do your exercise and what type of exercise you will do. When you create a plan and schedule, this sets it in stone and helps to hold you accountable to get it done.
This makes it easier for you when the time comes to press play because you are prepared, planned and ready!
Remember to adopt the mindset of 'I GET to workout', rather than, 'I HAVE to workout'.
Include a friend or family member to workout with you!
Having someone to workout with helps to hold you accountable to get your workouts done.
When someone is depending on you, you feel more motivated to show up and do it. If you are looking for an exercise friend, at DediKate we have a supportive community of women all striving to balance their busy lifestyle with fitness, health and fun!
Keep in mind that change is a process over time!
- When you're hoping to see physical or mental changes, one thing to remember for long term results is that there really is no quick fix.
- You need to make sustainable and achievable lifestyle changes to see and feel a difference.
- This does not mean drastically cutting your diet or over-exercising your body throughout the week.
- This means finding the right balance and the number of workouts that work for YOU to keep you healthy and active.
